A Unique Independent Bookstore

First created in 2015, this bookstore brings interesting stories and messages to visitors. More than just a bookshop, Buku Akik Store is a place that transforms how we connect with art, literature, and community. Located at Jl. Kaliurang Km 12, Gg. Besi Raja No.60 D, Candi Karang, Sardonoharjo, Ngaglik, Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta. In a house which is quite far from the city. Perfect for a small, quiet and cozy bookstore. 

In an interview on mojok.co, this business initially only sold the owner's book collection for sale on Instagram. However, Buku Akik Store began to receive recognition from a number of well-known people. Thus, the owner made the decision to start an independent bookshop in a building that belonged to his parents.

Once stepping inside, guests get greeted by a magnificent brick-colored building. On the right side, there is a spot to relax while reading a book, such seats organized like a typewriter, a vintage bicycle mounted to the wall, and convex glass for taking selfies. When you get inside, the space is separated into two sections: one is a library with a selection of books held by the bookshop that guests may read, and the other offers books for sale as well as quirky and adorable knick-knacks. There are six chairs and a table for reading books in the middle. The space is furnished in a warm and comfortable way.

In the area of books for sale, books that look unfamiliar and unseen to most people are neatly arranged. The owner deliberately keeps it so that visitors recognize these books. Books on literature, music, politics, and poetry, which are rarely found in other bookstores, are displayed at the front of the Buku Akik Store. 

For those of you who want to visit, this bookstore is open every day from 10:15 to 17:00 WIB, on Sundays from 11:00 to 17:00 WIB. In addition to selling books, this bookstore serves as a resource for literary education. Whether you're seeking for a particular book or simply want to spend a relaxing afternoon reading, Buku Akik Store ensures an unforgettable experience.
